Target Species on our Inshore Flats Fishing Charters

Redfish are one of the most popular inshore species in our area, commonly found on shallow grass flats, oyster bars, and mangrove shorelines. Known for their power and aggressive strikes, they are perfect for sight fishing and will eat both artificial lures and live bait. 

A top target year-round for anglers of all skill levels.

Snook are hard-hitting ambush predators that thrive around docks, mangroves, and bridges throughout Clearwater, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs. Famous for explosive strikes and strong fights, they are a favorite among experienced anglers. Snook fishing is best in warmer months when they are most active and feeding aggressively.

Speckled trout are one of the most consistent and fun inshore species in St. Josephs Sound, often found over grass flats in large numbers. Great for beginners, trout provide steady action and will hit a variety of artificial lures and live bait. 

Bigger “gator trout” offer an exciting fight and are a prized catch.

Tarpon are the ultimate gamefish, known as the “Silver King” for their size, strength, and acrobatic jumps. Each year, large migratory tarpon move through Clearwater and Tarpon Springs from May through August, offering anglers a chance to hook into a true bucket-list fish. Tarpon fishing is one of the most exciting experiences on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Jack crevalle are one of the hardest-fighting fish you can catch in Palm Harbor, known for their speed, power, and aggressive feeding behavior. Often found in large schools, they create fast-paced action and will hit a wide range of lures and bait. 

If you want a drag-screaming fight, jacks deliver every time.

Sheepshead are a popular wintertime species in New Port Richey, commonly found around docks, bridges, and structure. Known for their distinctive teeth and light bites, they can be challenging but rewarding to catch. Sheepshead are excellent table fare and a great target during cooler months when other species slow down.
