Dunedin offers some of the most diverse and productive inshore fishing anywhere along Florida's Gulf Coast. Situated between Clearwater and Palm Harbor, the waters surrounding Dunedin provide anglers with access to expansive grass flats, spoil islands, mangrove shorelines, dock systems, bridges, and some of the area's most productive structure. Combined with the incredible fishery surrounding Honeymoon Island, Dunedin provides outstanding opportunities to target redfish, snook, trout, and seasonal tarpon throughout the year.
At Tightlines Charter, our Dunedin fishing charters focus on actively targeting fish rather than simply sitting and waiting. Depending on conditions, anglers may sight fish shallow flats, work mangrove edges and docks for snook, target feeding trout and redfish across expansive grass beds, or pursue seasonal tarpon moving along the beaches and passes. That may sound technical, and it certainly can be, but only if you want it to be. Whether you're making your first cast or you're an experienced angler looking to fish aggressively on light tackle, every trip is tailored to your skill level and goals. We can provide as much instruction and assistance as needed, or step back and let experienced anglers take the lead. Every trip is adjusted to current tides, weather, water clarity, fish activity, and angler experience to maximize opportunities throughout the day.
One of the defining features of the Dunedin fishery is Honeymoon Island. While many visitors recognize the island for its beautiful beaches and recreational opportunities, local anglers understand that the waters surrounding the island hold exceptional fishing habitat. The Gulf side of Honeymoon Island provides seasonal opportunities for tarpon and snook, while the protected no-motor zone along the back side of the island offers outstanding habitat for redfish, trout, snook, and a variety of other inshore species. This unique area of shallow grass flats and mangrove-lined shorelines creates ideal conditions for both experienced anglers and those new to inshore fishing.
Beyond Honeymoon Island, Dunedin offers incredible diversity within a relatively small area. The spoil islands created during the construction of the Intracoastal Waterway provide structure and protection for baitfish and gamefish alike. Productive docks, bridge systems, oyster bars, and tidal feeding areas allow us to remain flexible throughout the day, adapting our approach as tides and fish behavior change. This variety of habitat is one of the reasons Dunedin consistently produces excellent fishing opportunities throughout the year.
Whether you're looking to experience Florida's famous shallow-water fishery, stalk redfish and snook on light tackle, or simply spend time exploring some of the most scenic waters on the Gulf Coast, Dunedin offers exceptional fishing opportunities for anglers of all experience levels.

Inshore fishing in dunedin with tightlines charter

Known by many names like spotail, Red Drum, or Red this fish never disappoints! Absolutely our favorite fish to target year round. They are aggressive, always hungry and one of the best fights you will ever have.
Ready to sight fish redfish on the flats?
Year round we catch Redfish, Snook, Speckled Sea Trout, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper and more on the flats. Seasonally we have shots at Tarpon, Cobia, and Spanish Mackerel. Check out our Seasons Page to see more about what's biting when.
We have great fishing 365 days a year. The biggest adjustment is if the fish are schooled up or spread out. In the winter time the water clears up and the Redfish are up on the flats trying to stay warm. Later morning / early afternoon trips are best so things can warm up. Summer is the opposite, we fish early in the day or dock lights at night. Spring and Fall are definitely the best mix of active fish and great weather.
Beginners are welcome and you will be in good hands! Whether you're making your first cast or you're an experienced angler looking to fish aggressively on light tackle, every trip is tailored to your skill level and goals. We can provide as much instruction and assistance as needed, or step back and let experienced anglers take the lead.
We supply everything from the license, rods, reels and bait. All you need to bring is whatever you want to eat or drink that day. There are always a few extra waters in the cooler.
Absolutely! Captain Paul is an experienced tournament angler and knows how to put you on some serious fish if you have the skills to make it happen! We love going after fish with artificial baits where accurate casts are rewarded.
Well that depends on a few things. Generally I would say the The 2 hour trip is best for those short on time. Maybe trying to get out and back before the rest of the family wakes up while on vacation. The 3 hour is definitely the most popular and best for beginners. Its a great mix of time and focused fishing without eating up half the day. The 4 hour trip is great for experienced anglers looking to make the most of a good tide cycle.
Quick, fun inshore trip perfect for families, kids, and beginners.
Target redfish, snook, trout, and other inshore species.
A great balance of time and action. Ideal for families and anglers looking for a relaxed, productive trip. Great trip for sunrise sight fishing.
Most popular for 1st time clients. Fish multiple areas including flats & mangroves, options for sight fishing when conditions allow.
