WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR PRIVATE INSHORE CHARTER
Whether it's your family's first fishing trip or you've been fishing for years, my goal is simple—make your day on the water easy, enjoyable, and memorable. Every Tightlines Charter is private, so your trip is customized around your group, your experience level, and the conditions that day. You don't need to know how to cast, tie knots, or bait a hook before you arrive. I'll guide you through everything at whatever pace you're comfortable with. If you're an experienced angler who wants to throw artificials or sight fish, we can do that too.
From the moment you step aboard until we return to the dock, the focus is on creating a relaxed, productive day on the water and memories you'll take home long after your vacation ends.
WHERE TO MEET & BEFORE YOUR TRIP
Tightlines Charter offers two convenient pickup locations in Clearwater and Palm Harbor. Our Clearwater meeting point at Seminole Street Boat Ramp is a great option for vacationing guests staying in Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, and the surrounding beach communities, with quick access to Clearwater Harbor, Caladesi Island, and nearby inshore waters.
Our Palm Harbor meeting point at Sutherland Bayou Boat Ramp provides direct access to St. Joseph Sound, Honeymoon Island, and the productive grass flats and mangrove shorelines we fish regularly. We'll help you choose the meeting location that makes the most sense for where you're staying and the fishing conditions for your trip.
Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. This gives us time to unload gear, answer any last-minute questions, review safety information, and talk about what you'd like to accomplish during your trip before we leave the dock.
Before You Arrive:
- Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather
- Bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a hat if you have them
- Feel free to bring snacks and drinks for your group
- Don't worry if you've never fished before—we'll take care of the rest.
Your rods, reels, tackle, fishing licenses, bait, bottled water, and ice are all provided. The only thing you need to bring is a great attitude and be ready to enjoy a day on the water.
WHAT WILL WE BE FISHING FOR?
Every trip is different because the fish and conditions change throughout the year. Rather than chasing only one species, we fish where the conditions give us the best opportunity for success that day.
Depending on the season, tides, and weather, you may have the opportunity to catch:
- Redfish – One of Florida's favorite inshore game fish and available year-round.
- Snook – Powerful fighters that love mangroves, docks, and shallow shoreline structure.
- Speckled Sea Trout – Great for beginners and experienced anglers alike, often found on grass flats.
- Sheepshead – A fun challenge around docks and structure, especially during the cooler months.
- Seasonal visitors – Spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, ladyfish, and other exciting species regularly make appearances depending on the time of year.
No captain can promise a specific fish on a specific day, but I can promise we'll fish the areas and techniques that give your group the best opportunity based on the conditions. My goal is simple: put you on active fish while making sure everyone on board has a fun, memorable experience.

There's no need to bring fishing gear unless you have a favorite rod you'd like to use. If you're brand new to fishing, don't worry—I'll show you everything from casting and baiting hooks to fighting and landing your first fish.
If you're an experienced angler, we can make the trip as hands-on as you'd like. Whether you want to learn new techniques, throw artificials, sight fish, or simply relax while I handle the details, the day is customized around your group. Just bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure—we'll take care of the rest.
FISHING WITH KIDS & FIRST-TIME ANGLERS
One of the best parts of my job is helping people catch their first fish. Whether you're bringing young children, teenagers, or adults who've never held a fishing rod before, your trip is designed to be fun, relaxed, and stress-free.
I'll help with everything—from baiting hooks and casting to landing fish and taking photos—so you can spend less time worrying about the details and more time enjoying the experience together.
There are no expectations and no pressure. If you want to learn, I'm happy to teach. If you'd rather sit back, relax, and simply reel in fish when the rod bends, that's perfectly fine too.

FLORIDA WEATHER & YOUR SAFETY
Florida's weather can change quickly, especially during the summer months. While forecasts are a helpful planning tool, they don't always tell the whole story. Before every trip, I closely monitor the latest forecasts, live radar, wind conditions, tides, and lightning activity to make the safest decision possible.
If conditions are safe, we'll fish. If thunderstorms or lightning make it unsafe to be on the water, we'll work together to reschedule your trip or discuss the best available options.
Your safety will always come before catching fish.
Many of the best fishing days don't begin with a perfect forecast, and many forecasts improve as the day unfolds. My job is to use experience, real-time weather information, and local knowledge to make the best decision for your group so you can enjoy your trip with confidence.
